Facebook Newbie Forever

I have an account in FB.  I actually have three (I think) because it took a while for me to understand how the social monster works. To date, I am still having a hard time using it.

My difficulties as a Facebook veteran-newbie explains the mysterious activity/inactivity of my account. Here are some unsolicited explanations.

  1. Applications/Games – I have more than 50 invites for games and apps. Sorry, I just really don’t know how to use them. I am also not motivated to learn how to use them because I’m not crazy about FB.
  2. Wall Messages – I’m still a bit confused with this function so I have  not been religiously responding to messages.
  3. Notes/Blog-Like Entries/Tags – for quizzes, questions, etc. As with apps and games, I also don’t know how to use them. I’ve been reading your entries, but I cannot figure out how to respond to the questions myself.
  4. Invitations – I know that FB should not be taken seriously but my network is not a social climbing/career advancement/diplomacy haven. I have several pending invites and these are the possible reasons for why I have yet to accept your invite:
  • I haven’t been checking my account
  • I don’t know you
  • I know you, but I don’t like you
  • I know you by NAME but it’s not enough

So there… do you actually care?

Call For Love Letters

Email Sent: 12/22/08

What: We’re getting married

Where: Makati

When: January 17, 2009, 5 PM

  • Bride – Maria Rominda Carzon Rabanal
  • Groom – Sherwin Paculdar Baniqued
  • Godparents/Witnesses – lovely couple (Martina and Ronie Quesada)
  • Guests – None
  • Special Guest – Potling (the little one)

  • Civil Wedding to be officiated by Reverend Minister Franco Espiritu;
  • Dinner with family follows

Why: Why not

Why are you receiving this email:

  • Because you would have been invited had we decided to go for a traditional wedding ceremony and reception
  • Because we will invite you one of these days (maybe in a year or two) to our post-wedding celebration
  • Because we have a special request…

Which is….

We are putting together a very special scrapbook to remember our wedding by. We reserved a page/s for you on this scrapbook. If you have the time (it’s the holidays!) and inspiration, please write (choose one, two or all):

  • Love letter for your partner/for your one great love/current object of your affection
  • Love letter to love
  • Love letter to someone you love/d but lost/can’t have

You may email your love letter to sherwin.romi (at) gmail (dot) com. If you would like to give us a handwritten love letter, just let us know so we can make the necessary arrangements. Yes, there is a deadline for submission. February 17, 2009 (our 9th anniversary as a couple). After said date, we will start working on the scrapbook.

  • Reminder 1: As this is a wedding scrapbook, please try not to write about your love for God, your art, your angst, your country, your hidden child, your pet, your self, etc. Those are definitely great “loves” to write about but for this little project, remember two words – romantic love.
  • Reminder 2: Love letters can be written in English or Filipino (only because these are the only two languages that we are able to speak and understand)
  • Reminder 3: Although we’re requesting for love letters, you may express yourself through poetry too (Romi likes!)… or images, sketches, photos, etc.
  • Reminder 4: The scrapbook will be displayed – therefore it’s going to be a PUBLIC document for guests, relatives, etc.– in our house. Our hope is for it to be a family treasure. If you would like to use a “pen name” please let us know when you send in your letter.

Thank you for your time and attention. We’ll wait for your letters. 🙂

P.S. We might have forgotten to send this to a lot of people… hormones and ageing! Feel free to spread the update and request.

Pedro and Rosita

Love the story… Thanks to Bangus for sharing.

It’s a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, “Hey, mamacita, let’s do Weeweechu.”

“Oh no, not now, let’s look at the moon!” said Rosita.

“Oh, c’mon baby, let’s you and I do Weeweechu.  I love you and it’s the perfect time,” Pedro begged.

“But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon.” replied Rosita.

“Please, corazoncito, just once, do Weeweechu with me.”

Rosita looked at Pedro and said, “OK, one time, we’ll do Weeweechu.”

Pedro grabbed his guitar and they both sang…..

“Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, Weeweechu a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.”
